PerkinElmer appoints new director

PerkinElmer has announced that it has appointed a new member of its board of directors.

The health sciences firm said that Patrick J Sullivan, executive chairman of Hologic, has been elected to the company’s board.

Gregory L Summe, executive chairman of PerkinElmer, said: "We are very privileged to have a leader of Pat’s calibre join our board.

"We look forward to benefiting from his broad experience"

According to the company, Mr Sullivan has a great deal of management experience within both the diagnostic and medical device industries.

Before taking the role at Hologic, he was chairman, president and chief executive officer of Cytyc Corporation and worked for Abbot Laboratories.

Mr Summe noted that the new executive was the "principal architect of Cytyc’s success in women’s health".

PerkinElmer claims to be a "global technology leader" within the health sciences and photonics industries, offering a variety of services and products.
