PerkinElmer elects new member of board of directors

PerkinElmer has announced the appointment of the experienced healthcare industry professional Pascale Witz to its board of directors with immediate effect.

Ms Witz can boast more than 30 years of global experience and most recently served as executive vice-president for Sanofi's global diabetes and cardiovascular business.

Prior to this, she held several leadership positions over the course of a 17-year career with GE Healthcare, including the role of president and chief executive officer of its medical diagnostics division.

In addition to her role with PerkinElmer, Ms Witz serves on the board of directors of a number of other organisations, including Horizon Pharma, Regulus Therapeutics, Fresenius Medical Care and Savencia.

Robert Friel, chairman and chief executive of PerkinElmer, said: "I am confident that her leadership will be invaluable in helping drive the future direction of the company."

The company recently announced that its senior vice-president and chief financial officer Andy Wilson will be retiring from the company in August 2018, with the search for a successor still underway.
