PerkinElmer introduces new liquid scintillation counters
PerkinElmer has announced the launch of a new range of liquid scintillation counters (LSCs) that offer the potential to substantially enhance radiometric measurement processes.
The Quantulus GCT and Tri-Carb 4810TR, 4910TR and 5110TR systems are able to measure low levels of radioactivity and perform advanced particle discrimination, while offering reduced counting times for detecting alpha, beta and gamma radioactivity.
With the Quantulus GCT, users can measure very low concentrations of man-made, cosmogenic and other natural radionuclides, making it suitable for environmental monitoring and contamination control.
Meanwhile, the Tri-Carb family of LSCs are computer-controlled benchtop instruments are optimised for demanding academic, pharmaceutical, environmental and nuclear power research applications.
Brian Kim, president, life sciences and technology at PerkinElmer, said: "Our new LSCs help life sciences and environmental researchers make informed decisions about drug pathways, determine contamination levels in the environment, and comply with safety regulations."
The firm was recently named as the company of the year for 2014 by the Instrument Business Outlook newsletter, due to its pioneering status in the sector.
