PerkinElmer LAS announces introduction of new thermal analysis system

4th September 2007

PerkinElmer LAS has announced the introduction of the Simultaneous Thermal Analyser (STA) 6000.

Described by the company as "durable" and "reliable", the STA 6000 is a thermal analysis tool for research and routine applications in a number of markets, including pharmaceutical, polymers, ceramics and food.

The STA 6000 examines weight loss and heat flow changes for enhanced measurements, it also makes use of advanced sensor technology and enables laboratories to operate more efficiently through the use of automatic optimisation and analysis of data, reports PerkinElmer.

A mass spectrometer or a Fourier-transform infrared spectrometer can be connected to the STA 6000 in order to achieve enhanced materials characterisation.

Vice-president for materials characterisation at PerkinElmer Martin Long commented: "Its patent-pending SaTurnA sensor results in a flat DTA baseline providing high sensitivity and resolution while the compact furnace allows for optimal temperature control for reliable results."

Last month, PerkinElmer announced the launch of a new assay development service for advanced drug and cellular science research.
