PerkinElmer launches new Vectra Polaris imaging system

2nd February 2017

PerkinElmer has announced the launch of Vectra Polaris, its newest automated quantitative pathology imaging system.

Designed to aid the study of disease mechanisms related to new cancer immunotherapy approaches, Vectra Polaris offers high-throughput seven-colour multispectral imaging and whole-slide scanning tools to support a simplified digital pathology workflow.

It can be used in the quantification and analysis of tissue sections marked by multiple immunohistochemical stains, helping scientists assess immune system and cancer biomarkers by detecting multiple cell types, their functional states and spatial distributions.

Jim Corbett, executive vice-president of PerkinElmer and president of its discovery and analytical solutions division, said: "The Vectra Polaris system is an innovative solution that helps further the exploration of new cancer immunotherapy approaches to help unlock the promise of precision medicine."

Dr Bernard Fox, of the Earle A Chiles Research Institute at Oregon's Providence Cancer Center, expressed confidence that the Vectra Polaris system will become a new standard for tissue biomarker studies in immuno-oncology research in future.
