PerkinElmer ‘pleased’ with first quarter performance

PerkinElmer has published its financial report for the first quarter of 2010, expressing satisfaction after experiencing strong year-on-year growth.

According to the science company’s report, revenues for the quarter ending April 4th 2010 came to $465.1 million (310.6 million pounds), up seven per cent on Q1 2009, with cash flow and profits also increasing.

In terms of segments, the company saw improved profitability in both its human health and environmental health business units when compared to the same period of last year.

Robert Friel, chairman and chief executive officer of PerkinElmer, stated that the firm’s performance during the quarter is representative of “positive momentum”.

He added: “We believe that the strength of our portfolio, enhanced by our recent acquisitions and our geographic diversity, makes us well-positioned to outperform in 2010 and beyond.”

Last month, the company launched 28 new additions to its No Wash amplified luminescent proximity homogeneous assay portfolio, which are designed to aid research into various diseases.
