PerkinElmer reveals Xenon flash orders

24th July 2007

PerkinElmer has received multiple orders for its Xenon-based flash technology for mobile phones, the company has announced.

The technology enables shutter speeds of 100 to 150-times those which may be achieved using conventional light emitting diode solutions, according to PerkinElmer.

This could allow for a higher standard of photography from mobile devices, the manufacturer states.

President of specialty lighting at the firm David Nislick says: "We are very pleased that innovators in the industry have recognised the performance advantages of our Xenon flash technology."

He adds that PerkinElmer is committed to ensuring its clients "are able to meet increased consumer demand for high-quality photography using mobile phone cameras".

The company predicts that sales of its flash products over the coming year could reach in excess of ten million dollars (4.9 million pounds).

Optoelectronics products manufactured by PerkinElmer, including a high-intensity pulsed lighting system, were recently exhibited at the Laser 2007 convention in Munich, Germany, the firm revealed.ADNFCR-1050-ID-18221389-ADNFCR
