Petplan offers holiday advice for animal lovers

24th June 2011

Petplan has insisted that animal lovers can still enjoy a summer holiday, despite their responsibilities as pet owners.

The insurer, which is part of Allianz Insurance, said one in four owners have admitted going on fewer breaks since getting their pet.

In a bid to help people take a holiday while continuing to look after their cat or dog, Petplan has published a list of pet-friendly accommodation options across the UK.

Company director Neil Brettell said the move should challenge the "misconception that pets make it difficult for their owners to go on holiday".

He added: "Pets are valued members of the family so there's no reason why they shouldn't be part of the holiday fun."

According to research by Petplan, 99 per cent of owners say their pet is an integral part of the family but only 23 per cent currently take their animal on vacation with them.

These figures were taken from the Petplan Pet Census, which was completed earlier this year and surveyed more than 10,000 respondents.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800599726-ADNFCR
