Pfizer Animal Health expands poultry offering following King merger

10th March 2011

Pfizer Animal Health is to see an expansion of its poultry sector offerings following its parent company's recent acquisition of King Pharmaceuticals.

The merger deal, which was completed earlier this month, also involved the takeover of the veterinary medicine business Alpharma and will allow Pfizer Animal Health to broaden its portfolio with new products, reports World Poultry.

Among them will be medicated feed additives, water-soluble therapeutics and probiotics that complement its existing offerings, while it will also be able to enter the poultry nutrition sector for the first time.

Moreover, the combination of the two organisations' research and development capabilities is also expected to lead to further innovations, according to Jose Francisco Ortiz, vice-president for Pfizer Poultry Health and New Established Brands.

He added: "Our customers will continue to benefit from the skill and expertise of our field team, our industry-leading programmes and services and unwavering customer focus."

Last month, the company announced the appointment of Dr Stuart Andrews as its new veterinary manager for Pfizer Poultry Health for the UK and Ireland.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800454690-ADNFCR
