Pfizer announces 32 cent dividend for quarter 4

24th October 2008

Pfizer has unveiled a dividend of 32 cents (20 pence) for the fourth quarter of this year.

Thursday saw the board of directors declare the dividend on the common stock of the company, payable to shareholders of record at November 7th’s close of business.

Pfizer said the quarter four dividend would be the 280th paid consecutively.

It follows recent financial results from Pfizer, revealed earlier this week. The company said it achieved a one per cent positive change in reported revenues, alongside a 45 per cent change in reported net income.

Chief executive officer and chairman Jeff Kindler said the organisation was on track to meet its objectives for the year.

“We continued to deliver steady results this quarter, with many of our most important medicines performing well around the world,” he added, citing Lyrica, Viagra, Sutent, Zyvox and Celebrex as examples.

Moreover, Frank D’Amelio, chief financial officer, described the Pfizer balance sheet as “strong”.

He concluded: “We are pleased with our progress.”

Other Pfizer news this week included the naming of a new head of medical affairs and clinical development for the company’s oncology business unit.
