Pfizer announces programme launch

14th November 2008

Pfizer has announced a launch of a promotional programme, in partnership with Urodynamix.

In an attempt to increase awareness of uroNIRS Bladder Monitor technology among urologists, medical professionals and key opinion leaders, the first session in the series will be held in Boston, US.

Co-ordinated by Pfizer’s Urology division, the meetings will feature various keynote speakers, with Boston seeing Dr Alexis Te – associate professor of Urology at Cornell University – introducing the monitor technology and discussing the results of his work using it over the past six months, along with previous published research.

UroNIRS is a non-invasive medical device that uses near infrared spectroscopy for the functional evaluation of the bladder, to aid in the diagnosis and resulting treatment of lower urinary tract symptoms.

Subsequent events are then scheduled to be held in New York, Philadelphia and Washington DC in December 2008, with further sessions then planned to take place across the US from January next year.

Barry Allen, president and chief executive officer of Urodynamix, said: “We are very excited about the opportunity to collaborate with Pfizer and our leading distribution partners to deliver the message about UroNIRS products.”

Based in New York, US, Pfizer reported 2007 revenues of $48.4 billion (32.64 billion pounds).
