Pfizer appoints Adobe chief to board of directors

3rd October 2013

Pfizer has announced the appointment of Shantanu Narayen as a new member of its board of directors, where he will also serve on its corporate governance and science and technology committees.

Mr Narayen is the current president and chief executive officer of software giant Adobe Systems, a position he has occupied since 2007, while he has also served in a variety of other important roles at the company in the past.

He is also a member of the US President's Management Advisory Board and a director at Dell, as well as being president of the board of the philanthropic Adobe Foundation.

The appointment of a knowledgeable business leader to Pfizer's board will help the company to benefit from a diversity of experience.

Ian Read, Pfizer's chairman and chief executive officer, said: "We are pleased to welcome Shantanu Narayen to Pfizer's board of directors. He brings both leadership experience and a strong technology background to Pfizer's board and will be an excellent asset to the company."

In July 2013, the company announced major restructuring plans that will see it separate its commercial operations into three new business segments, effective from January 2014.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801645303-ADNFCR
