Pfizer appoints worldwide policy SVP

13th May 2009

Pfizer has appointed a new senior vice-president of worldwide policy.

Greg Simon is to join the company from his current role as president of FasterCures, which is a group aimed at accelerating the discovery of different therapies.

Mr Simon will be responsible for action on healthcare, technology and science policy issues and will work under Sandy Beaty, who is in charge of Pfizer’s policy and government relations.

According to the organisation’s chairman and chief executive officer Jeffrey B Kindler, Mr Simon shares the group’s commitment to “good health and great science – and to shaping policies that unleash the power of innovation so that more people can gain greater access to safe and effective new treatments”.

News of the appointment follows an announcement made last week by Pfizer, which said it had co-signed a licence for human embryonic stem cell patents.

The agreement was in cooperation with the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation.
