Pfizer launches new digital innovations to support haemophilia patients

29th August 2017

Pfizer has announced the launch of two new digital innovations designed to facilitate disease education and activity tracking for people with haemophilia.

The first, Hemocraft, is a downloadable modification for the popular videogame Minecraft, which allows young people with haemophilia to take part in a quest that teaches them about treatment plans and self-monitoring.

Hemocraft was created in partnership with the Entrepreneurial Game Studio at Drexel University and is aimed specifically at patients between the ages of eight and 16.

Meanwhile, the company is also launching its new HemMobile Striiv Wearable, a device that can be worn on the wrist and offers several features, including tracking daily activity levels and monitoring heart rate to measure intensity.

It pairs with the company's existing HemMobile app and can be used to generate personalised reports to provide a user's healthcare team with insights that can help guide future discussions and treatment strategies.

Dr Kevin Williams, chief medical officer for Pfizer's rare disease unit, said: "These new digital innovations can be integrated into everyday routines to help empower people with haemophilia to learn about and track different aspects relevant to their disease, so that they can have informed conversations with their healthcare providers."
