Pfizer launches new division

Pfizer Animal Health has created a new division dedicated to poultry health and wellbeing, it has been reported.

Online resource the Poultry Site has noted that the global animal health researcher has created the specialist arm following its takeover of poultry health firm Embrex.

The department will work to extend and improve Pfizer’s current range of poultry products.

Jim Gerardot, group director of global marketing, told the Poultry Site: “Pfizer is excited about delivering innovative poultry health solutions.”

The company recently announced its fourth quarter and full year results of 2007, claiming revenues of $48.6 billion (£24.6 billion) over the 12-month period, up from $48.4 billion in the previous year.

Its fourth quarter revenues rose to £13.1 billion, an increase compared to the same period in 2006 when revenues of $12.6 billion were generated.

Chairman and chief executive officer Jeff Kindler said it had been a year of “solid growth” for the firm.

Pfizer will continue to strengthen its senior leadership team, revamp its research and development facilities and acquire promising new technologies in the future, he pledged.
