Pfizer launches new website offering antibiotic resistance surveillance data

24th April 2017

Pfizer has announced the launch of its new Antimicrobial Testing Leadership and Surveillance (ATLAS) website, part of its ongoing efforts to tackle the spread of antibiotic resistance.

ATLAS provides easy access to critical data on the efficacy of various antibiotic treatments and emerging resistance patterns across more than 60 countries, alongside a mobile application to help deliver this information at the point of patient care.

The information provided by this site can help physicians select the most appropriate treatment choices and enable global health authorities to develop data-driven antimicrobial resistance mitigation strategies.

An interactive platform, it allows users to evaluate data, conduct analyses and export tables and figures incorporating parameters such as pathogen type, region, specimen source and in vitro susceptibility data.

Pfizer intends to update the database every six months with new resistance data from healthcare institutions as it becomes available.

Dr Freda Lewis-Hall, chief medical officer of Pfizer, said: "ATLAS underscores our continued commitment to providing patients and physicians with meaningful resources that can help ensure appropriate utilisation of antibiotics and improve infection prevention and control."
