Pfizer receives CDP recognition for carbon reduction efforts

17th September 2012

Pfizer has been named to the Carbon Performance Leadership Index by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), recognising its efforts to reduce emissions and combat climate change.

The pharmaceutical company was ranked third in the healthcare sector among Global 500 companies, as well as appearing in the top ten percent of performers among all Global 500 and Standard and Poor's 500 businesses.

Pfizer met its first greenhouse gas reduction goal in 2007 and is currently designing its third public target.

It has achieved this progress through the implementation of energy-efficient and renewable technologies, as well as improving its manufacturing infrastructure in a way that allows energy use to be slashed.

Tony Maddaluna, president for global supply at Pfizer, said: "Since establishing our second greenhouse gas reduction goal in 2008, the company has completed more than 1,500 energy conservation and utility projects across the Pfizer enterprise."

Last week, the company launched a new China-based joint venture called Hisun-Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, in cooperation with Zhejiang Hisun Pharmaceuticals.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801450195-ADNFCR
