Pfizer senior vice-president to leave

12th March 2008

Pfizer has announced that its senior vice-president and general counsel Allen Waxman is to leave the company for personal reasons.

Mr Waxman is to remain outside counsel through a transition period while David Reid, currently senior vice-president and managing director, will take on Mr Waxman’s responsibilities on an interim basis while the company looks for a permanent successor.

Jeff Kindler, chairman and chief executive officer at Pfizer, praised the work Mr Waxman and his team had undertaken, highlighting that they had secured “a number of important legal decisions that are significant for our business and our future”.

“Allen has provided valuable counsel not only on legal matters but on our overall business strategy and the issues facing Pfizer in its operating environment,” he added.

Mr Kindler concluded by thanking Mr Waxman for his contributions and wishing him well in his future endeavours.

Earlier this week, Pfizer announced that it had reviewed its strategies with a view to accelerate and refocus its product pipeline.

The company outlined a number of plans for growth including the generation of revenue opportunities from established products, increased focus on improvement and innovation, increased growth in emerging markets and investments in complementary businesses.
