Phadia to utilise Aushon technology in new allergy research

28th June 2010

Phadia has agreed a deal with microarray instrumentation and laboratory services provider Aushon BioSystems which will see it utilise Aushon technology in new research.

The allergy diagnostics specialist is to use the Aushon 2470 Arrayer, a microarray printing technology which provides fast and accurate performance in genomic and proteomic applications.

It will utilise the machine in research efforts centring on the discovery of patterns in molecular diagnosis, as well as the characterisation of new allergens.

Dr Christian Harwanegg, chief operating officer for Phadia Multiplexing Diagnostics, said the 2470 will allow it to optimise its output and print quality, while also helping to cut costs.

He explained: “In many areas, antigens are very different and require specific buffers or additives. That requires a very robust and reliable printing technology, which the 2470 provides.”

This comes in the same week that Phadia received the backing of the US Food and Drug Administration to launch four new autoimmune assays for diagnosing antiphospholipid syndrome.
