Phibro announces licensing agreement with Merial

29th January 2015

Phibro Animal Health Corporation has announced it has entered into a long-term global licensing agreement with Merial Animal Health to share the former's vaccine delivery technology for veterinary care.

Originally signed in 2012, the deal is now being unveiled following Merial's receipt of marketing authorisation in France for an avian vaccine that would make use ofPhibro's technology.

The system utilises an innovative effervescent tablet that contains a freeze-dried sterile vaccine virus, which is packaged in sealed aluminum blister packages.

This technology can replace the glass vials that are in common use today and offers significant advantages in a number of areas, such as storage, customer handling and disposal.

Under the agreement, the use of the system will be limited to Merial, Phibro and their affiliates.

"Merial is excited to partner with Phibro and is looking forward to bringing the benefits of this break-through technology to Merial's poultry producer customers," said Jerome Baudon, global head of Merial's avian business.

Larry Miller, president of animal health at Phibro, added that the deal will see the technology's global reach extended through Merial, which he describes as a leader in animal vaccines.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801772835-ADNFCR
