Philips agrees deal to acquire Wellcentive

27th July 2016

Philips has announced the acquisition of Wellcentive, a move that will strengthen its population health management business.

Wellcentive is a leading US-based provider of population health management software solutions, offering cloud-based IT solutions to import, aggregate and analyse clinical, claims and financial data across hospital and health systems.

Its applications will be integrated in the Philips HealthSuite cloud, the company's digital enabler for the next generation of connected health solutions, with the Wellcentive business to be integrated with the population health management division.

Tom Zajac, the chief executive of Wellcentive and an experienced healthcare industry leader, will be appointed to lead this business group.

Jeroen Tas, Philips' chief executive officer for connected care and health informatics, said: "Wellcentive's solutions will provide our customers with the ability to collect data from large populations, detect patterns, assess risks and then deploy care programmes tailored to the needs of specific groups."

The company also announced its financial results for the second quarter of 2016 this week, reporting sales of 5.9 billion euros (4.94 billion pounds) and comparable year-on-year sales growth of three percent.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801822593-ADNFCR
