Philips announces cloud technology collaboration with SURFsara

6th June 2016

Philips has announced a new cloud technology collaboration with SURFsara, a leading Dutch supercomputing and data infrastructure provider for education and academic research.

The aim of the collaboration is to connect the Philips HealthSuite cloud platform to the SURFsara National Research Infrastructure, allowing for the provision of new cloud-based research services.

Leveraging Philips' expertise in health informatics and SURFsara's capabilities in high-performance supercomputing infrastructures, the big data-enabled service will provide researchers with access to a vast range of datasets that can analysed easily.

This will support research into precision medicine and population health, while speeding up the translation of academic research into practical healthcare innovations that can benefit patients.

Jeroen Tas, chief executive officer for connected care and health informatics at Philips, said: "Our integrated services aim to combine data on all levels and connect health systems, clinical expertise and research programs in a secure and compliant manner."

This comes after the firm announced last week that it is working with global home care provider Right at Home to launch CareSensus, a new remote care platform, for seniors in the US.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801819782-ADNFCR
