Philips joins forces with ISRRT to simplify access to healthcare education

4th January 2008

Royal Philips Electronics and the International Society of Radiographers and Radiological Technologists (ISRRT) today announced the launch of a programme to extend healthcare education in Europe, Asia and the South Pacific.

The International Access to Learning (IAL) programme has been developed to improve the quality of radiographic and radiation therapy practice worldwide through simplified access to education and partnership working between clinicians.

Estonia, Fiji and India have been chosen as the locations of the first phase of the programme with participants from these countries able to select from Philips’ catalogue of over 300 accredited, clinical and business courses.

ISRRT society members will be able to enrol on such courses for free from the first quarter of 2008.

Douglas Dell, global director of Learning Services for Philips Healthcare, expressed his delight in launching the programme and confirmed that Philips recognised the need for continuous education to boost clinical competencies.

“By collaborating with the ISRRT, we can broadly extend our resources to audiences seeking quality education programmes,” he added.

The ISRRT comprises of member associations and societies amounting to 300,000 radiographic professionals across 83 countries.

This week has also seen Philips Healthcare and Resporinics announce a definitive merger agreement.
