Philips launches new CT scanner for use by armed forces

23rd April 2013

Philips has collaborated with Marshall Land Systems to create a new computerised tomography (CT) solution for use by international armed forces, including the UK.

The rapidly deployable and containerised CT scanner has been optimised for battlefield conditions and provides whole-body scanning capabilities in a reliable, fast and easy-to-use manner.

It integrates the Philips Brilliance CT 64 scanner into an expandable shelter that ensures maximum safety for patients, operators and bystanders and can be set up by two people to perform scans within two hours.

The device is already in service and will deliver vital diagnostic capabilities that would typically only be available in fixed hospital facilities.

Mike Hayden, sales director for imaging systems at Philips Healthcare UK, said: "This latest cooperation confirms the reliability of the Philips CT scanner and clearly positions Philips as the preferred containerised mobile CT supplier in the military domain."

During 2012, the company experienced a four percent year-on-year increase in healthcare sales, with imaging systems being among the drivers of growth.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801575959-ADNFCR
