Pierre Fabre appoints new chief executive officer

Pierre Fabre has announced the selection of Olivier Bouhon as its new chief executive officer (CEO).

Mr Bouhon joins the independent pharmaceutical company from his former role as executive vice-president and president of pharmaceuticals at Abbott, while he has also previously occupied key positions at GlaxoSmithKline.

As well as becoming Pierre Fabre CEO, the executive will also take over the role of president of the Pierre Fabre Medicament subdivision.

Mr Bouhon will take up the post on September 1st 2010, when he will replace the company’s current CEO Jean-Pierre Garnier.

Commenting on his imminent arrival at Pierre Fabre, Mr Bouhon stated: “I will head the group in close collaboration with its chairman and founder and we will jointly pave the future – my action will be registered in the long run.”

Earlier this year, Pierre Fabre agreed a partnership with Mr Bouhon’s former company Abbott in order to jointly develop h224G11, a new compound which has potential cancer treatment applications.
