Planmeca explores digital technologies at Sofia Dental Meeting

Planmeca sales manager Jan Moed was among the speakers at the Sofia Dental Meeting, which took place at the Ramada hotel in Bulgaria's capital city from October 1st to 4th.

The key theme of Mr Moed's talk was the growing importance of technological advances within dentistry.

"Dentistry is ready to embrace the new digital technologies of the 21st century," he said in the opening to his presentation.

"Planmeca is constantly developing innovative solutions that enhance the clinical workflows of modern dental practices around the world."

One of the company's recent innovations is the virtual patient concept, which combines the medical imaging technique of cone beam computed tomography with three-dimensional face photos and model scans.

The aim of the technology is to open up new dimensions and opportunities in treatment planning.

Mr Moed said one of the next big tech frontiers for dentistry is 4D imaging software, which will create possibilities for adding dynamic, real-time movement to diagnostics.
