Portland Health appoints new account director

Portland Health has announced the appointment of Dean Sowman as a new account director, further expanding its growing health team.

Mr Sowman joins the agency from MHP Communications, where he spent two years, eventually occupying a senior account manager role that included a secondment to Sanofi Pasteur MSD's comms team.

Prior to this, he served as parliamentary and policy manager at Ukactive, a trade body for the physical activity sector, where he led a national public health campaign that received the Public Affairs Award for trade body campaign of the year.

He offers extensive expertise in fields such as healthcare policy and public affairs, with experience of working with patient groups, medical organisations and the pharmaceutical industry.

Dr Jane Brearly, partner and head of health at Portland, said: "His wealth of experience in public affairs and healthcare communications will support and further develop the work we do for our clients."

This marks the fifth senior hire for Portland Health since the beginning of 2016.
