Procter and Gamble report highlights sustainability achievements

27th November 2013

Procter and Gamble has published its 15th annual sustainability report, highlighting the progress it has made towards its environmental and corporate social responsibility (CSR) goals for 2020.

During the last year, the company has been able to reduce its usage of water, limit the greenhouse gas emissions of its supply chain and encourage consumers to wash more clothes using cold water.

In the same timeframe, more than 99.35 percent of all materials entering Procter and Gamble plants were beneficially used in products and through recycling, reuse and conversion of waste to energy, with more than 50 of the company's global sites now sending zero manufacturing waste to landfill.

Additionally, the firm helped improve life for more than 60 million people in need, particularly through its successful Safe Drinking Water Programme.

Len Sauers, vice-president of sustainability at Procter and Gamble, said: "Every day, we're inspired to develop innovative products that help people live more sustainably, while delivering cost savings through operational eco-efficiencies."

This comes after the company published its financial results for the first quarter of 2014 last month, highlighting a year-on-year organic sales improvement of four percent.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801665863-ADNFCR
