Procter and Gamble ‘to sponsor Olympic team’
Procter and Gamble has announced its participation in the London 2012 Olympic Games with the sponsorship of the US team.
The company and the United States Olympic Committee revealed the news this week and stated that the endorsement would also apply to the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games, as well as the London-based event.
Ahead of the games, Procter and Gamble’s marketing team will focus on advertising media such as print and television campaigns, public relations, customer engagement events, online activation and in-store merchandising featuring the Team US brand.
Kirk Perry, vice-president for Procter & Gamble, explained: “We are proud to support America’s athletes and engage consumers with integrated programmes through this sponsorship that will drive our business and our customers’ business.”
Procter and Gamble’s pharmaceuticals business was acquired by Warner Chilcott, it was announced last week, a move which will see the former company’s 2,300 employees absorbed by their new owner.
