Public urged to have flu jab

12th December 2019

With an increase in infections expected in the coming weeks, people in ‘at-risk’ groups are being urged by public health officials to get vaccinated against influenza. The advice from NHS England and Public Health England is that parents of children aged two and three should protect their children to avoid a more serious or fatal consequence. Anyone aged 65 or over or those that have an underlying medical condition are also being urged to book an appointment and get their free vaccine as soon as possible.

Head of Immunisation at PHE, Dr Mary Ramsay, said: “The flu vaccine is the best defence we have against what can be a serious and fatal illness, and flu season is just around the corner. If you are in an eligible group, visit your GP or pharmacist as soon possible to ensure you are protected.”
