Publicis Groupe partners with Microsoft to develop Marcel AI platform

31st January 2018

Publicis Groupe has announced a new collaboration with Microsoft to support the development of the new artificial intelligence platform Marcel.

Microsoft has been tasked with developing and launching the professional assistant tool, which will utilise AI and machine learning to help Publicis Groupe's 80,000 employees to work together more effectively.

Marcel will help the agency to identify new projects and opportunities, while sharing knowledge and skills between workers spread across 130 countries. Publicis will design the user experience and the architecture, while Microsoft will develop the platform itself.

Publicis Groupe chose Microsoft to assist with the development due to its unrivalled resources, capabilities and expertise in the field of AI.

In an internal memo, Publicis Groupe chief executive Arthur Sadoun also noted that Microsoft was selected "because they saw this as a true partnership between two companies who have the same ambition: to radically change the way each of their industries work".

Marcel will be showcased for the first time at the Viva Tech exposition in Paris on May 24th.
