Purina launches feline contest

28th July 2009

Purina’s Tidy Cat feline litter has launched a new contest that aims to highlight the positive role that people’s furry friends play in their lives.

The company rolled out the competition following the results of a survey of non-cat owners and their thoughts on people who own more than one feline.

According to the poll, 69 per cent of non-cat owners view those who have more than one feline as lonely, while 58 per cent think of them as a “crazy cat lady”.

“Cats have always been misunderstood and it’s high time to change misperceptions about these amazing animals and the people who share their homes with them,” said Dr Pia Salk, animal welfare advocate, psychologist and spokesperson for the campaign.

The contest, entitled the Tidy Cats Campaign to End Cattiness, allows owners of multiple cats to submit stories about the fulfilled lives they lead with their pets and offers them the chance to win a cash prize and Purina products.
