Purina Pro Plan names pet rescue finalists

7th August 2009

Purina Pro Plan has named the ten finalists in its Rally to Rescue ‘Doing More for Pets’ rescue stories contest.

A total of 121 tales of courage were submitted to the pet food brand and a judging panel has whittled the entries down to the top ten.

They include an account about Buddy the dog, who was given up by his family as they could not afford his medical bills and then taken in by a rescue group that ensured that he received the care he needed before re-homing him.

Meanwhile, other stories tell of a Great Pyrenees puppy Robo – who was helped by a veterinarian and rescue group when he needed a second chance – and seven cats that were re-homed from a city to a rural farm so that they could live a better life.

Heather Gettys, brand manager for Purina Pro Plan, said: “These ten stories are truly moving and make you appreciate just how much life and love these pets still have to give. Each story is incredible.”

People can vote for their story of choice until October 30th and the winner of the contest is due to be announced in November.

In recent days, Purina’s Beneful brand published a study which found that 95 per cent of dog owners believe that spending time with their four-legged friend helps to lift their spirits.
