Qiagen Clinical Insight shows efficiency benefits in new evaluation
Qiagen has announced the findings of a new evaluation showing the efficiency gains associated with its Qiagen Clinical Insight (QCI) screening tool.
Counsyl, a genetic screening company that was an early adopter of QCI, found that the tool was able to reduce the time required to search for literature references to interpret and score variants by 75 percent, while maintaining accuracy.
QCI incorporates software, analytics and content to accelerate the interpretation of clinically relevant genetic variants, with its comprehensive literature reference bibliography, clinical case database and pre-computed ACMG classification systems all aiding this goal.
Counsyl provides carrier screening, noninvasive prenatal screening and checks for hereditary cancer. It has served more than 750,000 patients and over 10,000 healthcare professionals to date.
Thanks to its strong performance, Counsyl has implemented QCI as an integral part of its literature search process, helping the organisation to eliminated the need for manual literature searching for most cases.
Dr Laura Furmanski, senior vice-president of Qiagen's bioinformatics business area, said: "We are delighted to be collaborating with Counsyl to help patients get reliable answers more quickly for so many important aspects of women’s health."
