Quintiles announces collaboration with invivodata

19th January 2010

Quintiles has joined forces with medical data collection company invivodata to strengthen its portfolio of clinical services.

The biopharmaceutical company announced that it will be working with invivodata to improve the use of patient recorded outcomes (PROs) in clinical research and drug development.

Paula Brown Stafford, executive vice-president of integrated clinical services at Quintiles, said that the partnership is a response to recent attempts from regulators to place a greater emphasis on patient perspectives in clinical trials.

“Our collaboration with invivodata will provide handheld technology that drives high patient compliance and meets the needs of the ever-evolving regulatory guidelines,” she explained.

Invivodata has a European headquarters in south-west London and will be Quintiles’ primary partner for the rollout of the firm’s ePRO solutions, which have already been used in over 20 joint studies.

The first handheld electronic patient diary was created in 1987 by Dr Saul Shiffman, a co-founder of invivodata, to collect real-time PRO data.
