Quintiles CIO elected to Hall of Fame

19th November 2009

Quintiles has announced that its chief information officer (CIO) Bill Deam is to become a member of the CIO Hall of Fame.

Mr Deam, who is also the biopharmaceutical services company’s executive vice-president, is responsible for IT operations in nearly 60 countries around the world.

The CIO Hall of Fame was established by CIO Magazine in 1997 to recognise those who demonstrate outstanding individual achievements and leadership in the profession.

Mr Deam described receiving the award as “very humbling”.

“While this is framed as an individual award, I would argue that it is shared by the talented IT professionals at Quintiles,” he said.

The CIO added his firm, which announced details of a new clinical pharmacology alliance with AstraZeneca earlier this month, views IT as “an integral part of the long-term strategy and how we help our customers succeed in the new health landscape”.

Mr Deam graduated from Leicester University and has previously held senior IT management positions at Safeway and Mars.
