10th April 2007

Quintiles Transnational has announced that it is to mark its tenth year of presence in India with the dedication of a new central laboratory in Mumbai.

This laboratory aims to expand the company’s worldwide network of laboratories and to improve its suite of services available in India for the support of worldwide and regional clinical studies.

Quintiles Indian subsidiary also offers interactive voice response, electrocardiogram and data management services in addition to its efforts in clinical research.

Dennis Gillings, chairman and chief executive officer of the company, said; “The opening of this new lab in India symbolises the rapid growth and achievement of our team here, as well as the acceptance of India as a centre for clinical research.”

He added that the firm has added a number of offices since it first established itself in the country a decade previously and now employs 750 staff engaged in clinical research who have been involved in over 700 international studies.

The company reported that it has also trained hundreds of investigators in the field of good clinical practice guidelines and assisted in bringing India to prominence as a destination for clinical research projects.

In February 2007, the company announced the dedication of a new data processing centre situated in eastern North Carolina in the US.
