Randox says its monitoring kits soothe treatment concerns

29th April 2008

Randox has announced that its latest drug monitoring kits can soothe treatment concerns.

The international diagnostics company claims that its kits offer an excellent overall performance in monitoring and measuring the level of certain medications in a patient’s blood to determine a suitable dose while avoiding toxic effects.

A company statement said that though many drugs do not need monitoring of blood levels due to effects being visible through blood pressure, some with a narrow therapeutic index that work best over a small range have "toxic effects than can be dangerous for the patient".

"Monitoring certain drugs is therefore very important, especially in cases where patients take more than one medication, as these can interact," it added.

The firm claims that its therapeutic drug kits offer high quality, reliable results and are available in a ready-to-use form with approximately 100 tests each.

Analytes available include digoxin, gentamicin, lithium, phenytoin, theophylline, valproic acid, phenobarbital and carbamazepine.

The company was founded in 1982 by Dr Peter Fitzgerald and now claims to be a multi-million pound business employing 600 people, including 185 research scientists.
