Red Health and Merck Sharp and Dohme launch contraception campaign

2nd September 2013

Red Health and Merck Sharp and Dohme are launching a new campaign to raise awareness of the benefits of long-acting reversible contraception (LARC).

Entitled Love, Life and LARCs, the campaign has been developed in conjunction with the Family Planning Association and will be launched to consumers on September 9th 2013, addressing misconceptions and encouraging more informed discussions on the topic, reports PMLiVE.

A survey of around 3,000 women commissioned by Merck Sharp and Dohme has revealed that 70 per cent feel they had not been provided with enough information about LARCs, while more than three-quarters said their GP, nurse or family planning healthcare professional had not discussed LARC options with them.

Anne Connolly, a GP with a special interest in gynaecology and chair of the Primary Care Women's Health Forum, said: "Ensuring women are fully informed about all the contraceptive options available to them – and that they can access these without restrictions – will be critical in efforts to reduce unintended pregnancies."

Red Health was launched in 2007 and works with leading clients such as Astellas, Novo Nordisk, Janssen and Pfizer.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801632221-ADNFCR
