ResMed launches portable oxygen concentrator Mobi

ResMed has announced the launch of Mobi, its first branded portable oxygen concentrator for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and other respiratory conditions.

Mobi has been designed to offer an industry-leading balance of oxygen delivery, weight and battery life, offering high-quality oxygen therapy at home and on the go. This allows users to maintain active and healthy lifestyles.

It represents a significant breakthrough for oxygen-treated patients with COPD, as mobility and regular physical activity has been shown to lower the risk of hospitalisation and death among these individuals.

This new innovation builds on decades of patient-centered ResMed technology and design innovations, such as AirMini, the world's smallest PAP device for the treatment of sleep apnoea.

ResMed's chief executive officer Mick Farrell said: "The time is now for portable oxygen. Our patients demand a device that enables them to get out of their house and travel to visit friends and family. Mobi gives the gift of freedom to millions."

Mobi will be available to US patients during the first quarter of the year, while ResMed is pursuing regulatory approval for the device in other countries throughout 2018.
