ResMed wins Red Dot awards for medical devices
ResMed has been presented with a pair of prestigious Red Dot Product Design Awards for two devices for the treatment of sleep-disordered breathing.
The AirFit P10 nasal pillows mask has been recognised for its simple, sophisticated and elegant design, in addition to the new Astral 150 life support ventilator, which will be making its commercial debut soon.
Red Dot is the world's largest and most renowned design competition, with 4,815 entries submitted by manufacturers, designers and architects from 53 countries this year.
The lightweight, ultra-quiet AirFit P10 nasal pillows mask has shown great effectiveness in treating sleep apnoea since its launch in January 2014, while the soon-to-be-launched Astral 150 device is a small, portable system that allows respiratory conditions to be treated outside hospital.
Mick Farrell, ResMed's chief executive officer, said the devices are "backed by decades of science and clinical research as we remain focused on three key goals: improving patient quality of life, preventing progression of chronic diseases and lowering total healthcare costs".
The company recently underlined its commitment to modern design principles by unveiling a new corporate logo and branding, which will be rolled out globally during the year.
