Roche agrees takeover of cancer specialist Flatiron Health
Roche has announced the acquisition of Flatiron Health, a healthcare technology and services company specialising in the field of cancer.
The $1.9 billion (GBP 1.36 billion) deal will see Roche acquiring the New York-based business to further its collaborative work to advance the evolving field of healthcare data and analytics for the benefit of cancer patients.
Flatiron Health is a market leader in oncology-specific electronic health record software, as well as the curation and development of real-world evidence for cancer research. It operates a large network of community oncology practices and academic medical centres across the US.
Following the closing of the deal, which is expected to occur during the first half of 2018, Flatiron Health will maintain its current business model, network of partnerships and overall objectives.
Daniel O'Day, chief executive officer of Roche Pharmaceuticals, said: "As a leading technology company in oncology, Flatiron Health is best positioned to provide the technology and data analytics infrastructure needed not only for Roche, but for oncology research and development efforts across the entire industry."
