Roche announces acquisition of lab technology firm Viewics

Roche has announced the acquisition of Viewics, a California-based provider of laboratory business analytics software.

Viewics' software offers automated data extraction, cleansing and augmentation architecture, addressing many of the typical problems that laboratory IT staff encounter when using generic business intelligence, data warehousing or extraction solutions.

This cloud-based solution is designed to be secure, infrastructure-agnostic, interactive and accessible from multiple devices, whether they be smartphones, tablets or desktop computers.

Roche is acquiring all shares of the company, allowing the firm to expand its leading position in integrated core lab solution with additional business analytics capabilities. This will help laboratories to make faster data-driven informed decisions. 

Roland Diggelmann, chief executive officer of Roche Diagnostics, said: "We are excited that Viewics will be joining the Roche group, as it will help us to support our customers around the world in improving their lab performance and processes."

The deal was agreed last week, and closed today (November 21st 2017).
