Roche Diagnostics eyes Indian expansion

Roche Diagnostics has outlined its desire to expand in the Indian market.

According to Shravan Subramanyam, managing director of Roche Diagnostics India, the country is seeing growth in its healthcare and laboratory markets, livemint reports.

"Roche is there for the ride and will grow along with it," he commented.

"The Indian market is evolving a lot from pure play diagnostics into a little bit of prevention, prognosis and monitoring."

Mr Subramanyam said Roche is therefore developing its capabilities and products to ensure that it is active in all these spaces.

He highlighted the clinical chemistry and immunology spaces as two areas that Roche is playing particularly close attention to, as these account for "a large chunk of our business".

Mr Subramanyam went on to note that Roche is doing lots of work in molecular diagnostics and histology, where actual tissues are tested.

He said the aim is to create awareness, work on infrastructure, provide tools and work in areas ranging from prevention and diagnosis to monitoring and prognosis.
