Roche Diagnostics launches CoaguChek XS Plus

1st November 2007

Roche Diagnostics has launched its CoaguChek XS Plus System which is designed to help non-waived clinics monitoring anticoagulation ensure accurate PT/INR (clotting time) test results for patients taking blood thinner medication.

The system offers built-in controls and optional, external liquid controls and has the ability to store up to 500 patient and/or liquid quality control results.

This data can then be searched by patient, data and time with the metre also designed for data management connectivity with patient ID, operator and quality control lockouts included.

Randy Pritchard, director of strategic marketing for point of care diagnostics at Roche Diagnostics, indicated that the CoaguCheck XS Plus system can provide laboratories with the best practices in warfarin management.

“It can help them increase their patients’ time in therapeutic range, minimise adverse events and address the new coagulation monitoring requirements in the Joint Commission’s 2008 Patient Safety Goals,” he confirmed.

The CoaguChek XS Plus System is still waiting on CLIA waiver approval by the US Food and Drug Administration.

Earlier this month, Roche Diagnostics announced the appointment of Jurgen Schwiezer as the new chief executive officer of the division, with the move to be effective from January 1st 2008.
