Roche highlights positive trends in first half of 2011

26th July 2011

Roche has published its financial report for the last six months, during which the company has been able to highlight a number of positive business trends.

The company's sales total for the first half of 2011 came to 21.7 billion Swiss francs (16.5 billion pounds), which was broadly stable compared to last year in local currency terms, while operating profits rose by five percent.

Good progress was noted in the development of its late-stage pipeline during this period, with all seven clinical trials conducted by Roche delivering positive data that can be used to support regulatory submissions.

Severin Schwan, chief executive officer of Roche, said the company will be raising its earnings target for the full year based on the effective execution of its Operational Excellence programme thus far.

"These results are testimony to our innovation-focused strategy and will help to secure Roche's future," he added.

Last week, Roche announced the acquisition of mtm laboratories, a developer of diagnostic products for cervical cancer, which will help the company to expand its presence in this sector.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800633868-ADNFCR
