Roche recognised for leadership in sustainable water management

26th October 2017

Roche has been included in the 2017 Water A-List, a report that recognises industry leaders in sustainable water management.

Compiled by the non-profit global environmental disclosure platform CDP, the list was put together using insights from more than 800 institutional investors, with companies on the A-List receiving the highest rating in accordance with CDP's water scoring methodology.

This marks the first time that Roche has made the list, reflecting its commitment to reducing water consumption per employee by ten percent between 2015 and 2020. As such, all Roche sites are working on programmes to increase efficiency in water usage.

Actions include the introduction of less water-intensive processes, water recovery programmes and water reuse, as well as the reduction or elimination of irrigation water. These efforts are particularly prioritised in water-stressed regions.

Severin Schwan, chief executive officer of Roche, said: "This is a great achievement which demonstrates that providing innovative medicines and diagnostics and protecting the environment go hand in hand at Roche."
