Roche reports strong sales performance in first nine months of 2016
Roche has announced its financial results for the first nine months of 2016, during which it experienced a four percent year-on-year sales increase on a constant exchange rate basis.
The company's sales for the first three quarters came to 37.5 billion Swiss francs (30.84 billion pounds), with the performance of its pharmaceuticals division driven by its oncology and immunology medicines, while its diagnostics business saw a rise in demand for immunodiagnostic products.
Key highlights of the year to date include the securing of US regulatory approval for Tecentriq for the treatment of metastatic non-small cell lung cancer, as well as the successful launch of the Cobas e 801 immunodiagnostic module.
Additionally, the firm was named as the most sustainable healthcare company in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index for the eighth consecutive year, underlining its commitment to corporate social responsibility.
Based on the results seen so far this year, Roche expects to meet its goal of low to mid-single-digit sales growth at constant exchange rates for the full year.
Severin Schwan, Roche's chief executive officer, said: "We had continued good sales growth in both pharmaceuticals and diagnostics driven by our newly launched products, and our product pipeline is developing very well."
