Roche unveils LightCycler kit to help conduct gene expression analysis

4th April 2008

Swiss-based Roche Applied Science has unveiled a new product that is designed to help researchers to conduct whole transcriptome gene expression analysis.

The LightCycler RNA Pre-Amplification Kit has been developed using the technology of a product by NuGEN – the WT-Ovation.

It is hoped that the LightCycler will enable professionals to analyse some of the “most challenging” gene samples, including those left over in small tissue biopsies, sorted cells and those previously archived years ago.

Using this method, causes and influences of disease will be researched and the role of genomics in cancer and other conditions can be investigated.

“Giving researchers a tool to perform high-throughput, multi-test analysis on these precious samples will significantly advance their understanding of disease processes and pathology, and might accelerate development of enlightening diagnostic tools,” said Manfed Baier, head of Roche Applied Science.
