Rowlands announces split for superintendent role

16th March 2011

Rowlands Pharmacy has announced that it is splitting the responsibilities of its superintendent Ian Cowan, creating a vacancy for a second superintendent pharmacist.

The company is dividing the responsibilities of the position into two following a review of the role that takes into account the growing burden of legislation, reports Chemist and Druggist.

Kenny Black, the firm's managing director, explained that Mr Cowan will now focus on external affairs, including dealings with industry organisations such as the Company Chemists Association and the Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee.

Meanwhile, the yet-to-be-appointed new superintendent will handle statutory duties and the professional side of Rowlands' business.

The company is now seeking a suitable applicant for the role, which would encompass "compliance with all legal, professional and ethical standards within the company's operating pharmaceutical activities".

In 2010, Rowlands marked its 200th anniversary during a year which saw the company earn the retailer of the year title at the annual Chemist and Druggist awards.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800465162-ADNFCR
